Can you give me a quick money saving tip for the pharmacy?

Give the pharmacy a day or so but ask them if they could give you the cash price for your medication for a 30 day, 60 day, and 90 day supply. If you are taking a brand name drug, it’s going to be expensive and you should be on a generic anyway. When you get the prices, check them out and see if it would just be cheaper to pay cash, not using your insurance, and get a bunch of pills at one time, even a six month supply
If you’re sure you’re going to be taking it that long. Think of the time and gas savings also. I mean if you aren’t going to save any money but it’s only $10 more for a six month supply, cash, heck, you’ll be spending more than that in gas driving back and forth every month. Many people have asked this question and, no, you do not have to use your insurance for your medication. Insurance will limit you on the number of pills you can get. Some allow a 30 day supply, some 60, and some 90 days. When you pay cash, everyone wins. You are not limited on the number of pills, assuming you have them on your prescription. As a pharmacist, we like it because we get out money right away. Insurance companies pay us months later, after they’ve tried every way possible not to pay us. You think the drug companies are evil, you should try dealing with insurance companies every day.
