What are the four main causes of accelerated aging?
Excess Insulin
Insulin’s job, in a nutshell, is to shuttle carbohydrates in the form of glucose into cells to be used as energy. Without insulin, the cells would starve and die. Our body needs insulin and you must maintain a certain level in order to function. Too much insulin, known as hyperinsulinemia, is a dangerous and age accelerating problem. The noticeable outward sign of hyperinsulinemia is an excess of stored body fat.
Excess Blood Sugar
The main issue with too much blood sugar, or glucose, is the formation of specific proteins that stick to arteries and cause strokes, heart disease, kidney disease, blindness, and impotence. Read the rest of this entry »
Baby Safe Products
With all the confusion about which over the counter products are safe for young children, it’s no wonder moms are confused. Most non-prescription items are not approved for children under 2 years of age. Only a few, selected products are safe for babies: ibuprofen, diaper rash creams, teething products, ipecac syrup, and some sunscreens.
If your baby is “cranky” from aches and pains, headache, toothache, teething pain, or immunizations, ibuprofen is approved for children over 6 months of age. The concentrated drops are the way to go here because there is less fluid that you need to give. If the baby has not been drinking fluids, has lost a lot of fluid due to vomiting or diarrhea, has hives, facial swelling, or is wheezing, contact the doctor. Also, if the child does not get relief in 24 hours or if redness or swelling appear, get medical attention. Parents, please double and triple check that you are giving the correct dose to your child. My top ten favorite healing foods
Let me make something perfectly clear; I am not a health food nut. Associating with people who preach about the benefits of their raw food, vegan, whole food, blood type, coconut, cabbage soup, or grapefruit diet get on my nerves in no time. If your diet removes you from associating with other members of a normal society, it may be time to rethink your eating habits.
Eating healthy does not have to involve driving 50 miles to a farmer to get “fresh” foods. Everything here should be available at your local supermarket and none would be considered expensive.
